Mama Earth is a seriously green, organic body care company and an eco-aware cloth diaper service. Our desire for a green planet drives us to operate our business in a way that preserve our earth’s resources, sustains local economies, and fosters a sense of community. We believe that, with your help, our grassroots effort CAN impact the world.
On the Shores of Rhode Island, Mama Earth was Born
Mama Earth was founded by two moms sitting on a Rhode Island beach, discussing ways to restore a sense of community and protect our earth for our children’s futures. As we looked out at the ocean, we reminisced about the cloth diaper services that existed before mega corporations created disposables. We missed the tight-knit communities that had seemingly gone the way of cloth diapers, and ceased to exist. We discussed the sad fact that disposable diapers have become the third largest source of pollution. We knew we could sit and discuss the woes of our planet all day, but to really make a difference, we needed to take action. And so, from the seeds of our conversation, Mama Earth was born.
Cloth Diapers
From the beginning, Mama Earth was passionate about bringing cloth diapers back to the norm. We knew that a diaper service could enable families to use cloth diapers without sacrificing precious time with their newest additions. A diaper service would eliminate the stress that comes with using cloth diapers, making it easy to forgo disposables and opt for cotton. We recognized that a diaper service could also restore a sense of community. Families could swaddle their babies in non-toxic diapers delivered by people they knew and trusted.

Organic Products
As the Mama Earth plan developed, we became zealous about the idea of creating change through a line of natural products that were safe for the environment, humans and four-legged creatures. We knew our products needed to be effective, but also knew that nature had the answers.
We discussed vegan, plant-based ingredients with master herbalists to create gentle products safe enough for babies’ delicate skin. We presented our product vision to a local doctor and Brown University professor to get insight and input. Everyone agreed that a natural product is important for health, but needs to be effective to sell. We put our products to the test, and the results were phenomenal. Mama Earth products are natural and effective – a perfect balance between nature and science.
