Do I have to be home for my delivery?
It is not necessary that you are home when your diapers are delivered. They will be left in a pre-arranged location. You will receive a text message (optional) within 5 minutes after the delivery to notify you that diapers have been delivered.
What happens if I forget to leave out the diapers for pick up?
Forget to leave out the soiled diapers? No problem. The first time we will leave you the clean diapers and call you to arrange a return for pick-up of the soiled diapers. The second time and thereafter there will be a charge to return. Please see Rental Policy below.
What happens if I have too few or too many diapers?
We understand that babies come in all shapes and sizes. Please let us know if you are running out of diapers or if you need to increase your rental supply. We are happy to discuss options. Baby leaking at night? Let’s talk. You have options that we can discuss to make adjustments.
Is there any discount if I have more than one child in diapers?
Yes! For parents with more than one child utilizing our services, we offer a 10% discount for any subsequent children (with full payment for the first child).
How will I learn how to use cloth diapers on my baby?
After signing up for service we offer we offer an interactive start-up consultation in which one of our friendly staff members will discuss cloth diaper techniques and the weekly routine.
Do you have a Rental Policy and do I have to sign a contract?
There is a Rental Policy that is printed out and enclosed in your diaper start kit. We require that all cloth diaper service customers read and adhere to the Rental Policy. Please speak to us if you need clarification of any of our policies. There is no formal contract.
Is there any type of ointment I should avoid using on my baby?
Please don’t use Destin or any cream with zinc oxide as it will damage our diapers. In order to keep our prices low, we request the cooperation of our customers to take care of the diapers in their possession. (There are alternative products that contain no zinc oxide such as Mama Earth Healing Baby Bottom Cream.) Please see Rental Policy below for further details.
Should I rinse or treat the diapers before they are picked up?
No. Please don’t try to rinse or spray soiled diapers at home. Just scrape poop into toilet and toss into diaper pail. Also, please don’t use our diapers for anything but diapering your baby. We know our diapers are good for other things. If you are interested we can sell you diapers for rags to use at home or for other purposes.
What is the initial payment?
All diaper service customers are required to pay for the initial non-refundable starter kit and one month non-refundable payment for the first month of cloth diaper service. Each month thereafter you will be billed for the upcoming month a week prior to your initial start-up date.
How much do you charge for delivery of your online store products?
We value and appreciate our cloth diaper customers. Our way of saying thanks is to waive the shipping fee for delivery of Mama Earth Village Store items to your home on the day of your normally scheduled delivery. Please place your store order at least 3 business days before your pick up/delivery day to ensure that we have time to check inventory, package your order and have it ready for the driver to deliver with your diapers.
Cloth Diaper Rental Policy
Holiday Delivery Schedule
Mama Earth recognizes major holidays. In the event that your regular delivery day falls on a major holiday (i.e., Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter), we will contact you to arrange a different delivery date so we can give our staff the day off to enjoy with their families.
Vacation Kindly inform us at least a week in advance of your departure so we won’t deliver during the week(s) you are on vacation and you will receive a credit to your account. (If we are not made aware, we will have no other choice than to charge for pick-up and delivery.) We will arrange for one of our drivers to pick up the clean and soiled diapers from your home prior to your vacation. Upon your return home, we will resume your weekly scheduled delivery. You will receive a credit on your account for the week(s) that you are away. You are welcome to bring our diapers on vacation with you; in this instance you will not receive credit because you will be using the diapers.
Pick-up / Delivery
Forget to leave out the used diapers? No problem. The first time we will leave you the clean diapers and call you to arrange a return for pick-up of the soiled diapers. The second time and thereafter we will charge $15.00 to return. We suggest that you leave the diapers outside ready for pick in the morning. If you are having difficulty remembering to leave out the diapers, please call us to discuss.
Too Few or Too Many Diapers
We understand that babies come in all shapes and sizes. Please let us know if you are running out of diapers or if you need to increase your rental supply. We are happy to discuss options. Baby leaking at night? Let’s talk. You have options that we can discuss including diaper covers specifically designed for various sized babies.
More Than One Child in Diapers
For parents with more than one child utilizing our services, we offer a discount for any subsequent children (with full payment for the first child).
Initial Set-Up and At Home Demonstration
All diaper service customers are required to pay purchase (1) diaper starter kits (one time purchase) and (1) of our weekly diaper supply options. Each month, customers are billed a non-refundable payment for the upcoming month of service. Upon payment a Mama Earth representative will contact you to set up the in home demonstration with delivery of all your cloth diapering supplies to prepare your nursery for baby’s arrival.
Moving
Please call us at least one week before you move to ensure that you will still be in the delivery area and determine if your service day will change. If you will no longer be in the delivery area, we will make arrangements to pick up all rented diapers (clean and soiled) from your home and discontinue services. Please see Ending Service specifics below.
Ending Service
Please give us at least one week to discontinue your service. As your final day of service approaches please gather all the clean and soiled diapers in your home. Please write your name on the bag and total diaper count. We will conduct a final audit to determine if there are any damaged or lost diapers, in which case there will be a $6.00 charge for each diaper. You will be contacted by email if there are any charges that result from damaged and/or lost diapers. (If your termination is based on financial reasons please remember that our fees are comparable to chemical free diapers and we conveniently pick up and deliver. Additionally, there is no price to having a chemical-free baby and possessing the knowledge that you are reducing the disposable diaper pollution issues that we face in Rhode Island.)
Avoid Creams with Zinc Oxide
Please don’t use Destin or any cream with zinc oxide as it will damage our diapers. Per above, we must charge $6.00 for any damaged diaper. Mama Earth sells a handcrafted All Purpose Herbal Salve that doesn’t contain any zinc oxide. It can be purchased at our store and delivered free to our cloth diaper customers.

Payment
After the initial non-refundable fee for the starter kit has been paid, we require four weeks of non-refundable service paid in advance each month. We accept credit card or personal checks. Automatic monthly billing is an option for convenience.
Free Delivery to Diaper Customers

Diaper Count
Please remember that Mama Earth is a diaper rental service. You are charged for a month’s supply of diaper rentals, regardless of exact diaper usage during that month. (Similarly, if you rent three movie videos but only watch two you are still charged for taking home three videos.) You pay for monthly diaper service, and not per diaper. We can adjust the number of diapers that you receive each week. The minimum rental quantity is 60 and the maximum is 80.
Deodorizer Disk
You will receive two deodorizer discs with your start kit. These food grade citrus disks are chemical-free and available for $1.00 at our store. We suggest replacing once per month. The disk is installed in the diaper pail lid in between two raised areas. The disk slips into the middle.
